Portable Apologises to Saheed Osupa After Release from Custody, Teases New Song Inspired by His Legal Struggles

Controversial Nigerian street-hop singer Portable has once again turned a dramatic episode in his life into a moment of music and reflection. After being released from police custody, the artist—known for his unpredictable antics—shaved off his signature colourful hair and publicly apologised to veteran Fuji musician King Saheed Osupa.

Portable had been arrested and charged with criminal defamation, intimidation, public disturbance, and cyberstalking following derogatory comments he made about Osupa during a live session on Instagram. His legal troubles led to a court arraignment and brief remand in custody.

However, in a recent turn of events, Osupa withdrew the case. Portable followed up with a heartfelt apology, posting a photo of the legendary musician and writing, “God bless you, sir. I’m sorry Baami.”

Following his release, Portable shared a video showcasing his clean-shaven look and previewed a new track titled “Oni Reason,” referencing his recent troubles in Kwara State. In the snippet, he claims his journey is guided by divine purpose—a theme he often explores when addressing his controversial past.

This isn’t the first time Portable has used personal conflict to inspire music. After being declared wanted by Ogun State Police for allegedly assaulting government officials, he dropped an EP titled “Most Wanted.” In 2024, he capitalised on the viral “I Am A Chosen” trend with his “Chosen EP.” When a video of him jumping a fence to evade arrest over an unpaid G-Wagon debt went viral, he responded musically with the song “Spiderman.”

His most notable success since his breakout hit “Zazzu Zeh” was his collaboration with Skepta on “Tony Montana.” He later released an EP titled “Tony Montana of London” and followed it up with “Canadian Burger” after his Canadian tour in 2025.

With “Oni Reason,” Portable continues his unique pattern of turning life’s chaotic moments into tracks that resonate with his streetwise audience—keeping his name in the headlines and his music relevant.
