Marvel Studios has officially confirmed that more actors will join the already announced 27 cast members in Avengers: Doomsday. Following the livestream reveal, Robert Downey Jr. playfully commented, “That’s what you call a deep bench of talent… actually it’s more like a row, but an extra long one… That must be it… right?” Marvel’s official account responded with, “There’s always room for more,” reinforcing reports from The Hollywood Reporter that additional cast announcements are on the way.
Filming is already in progress, with many scenes being shot on closed interior sets to keep details under wraps. Interestingly, some of the MCU’s biggest names are absent from the confirmed lineup, including Chris Evans, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Pratt, Mark Ruffalo, Ryan Reynolds, and Jeremy Renner.
Scarlett Johansson’s return seems unlikely, given that her character met a definitive end in Endgame. Likewise, Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) was not included in the official cast announcement, and Marvel has yet to comment on her involvement.
Meanwhile, several familiar faces from the X-Men franchise are making a comeback, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Alan Cumming, and Kelsey Grammer.
However, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen, Anna Paquin, and Shawn Ashmore were not listed. Channing Tatum will also appear after making his debut in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Marvel also included Tenoch Huerta Mejía (Namor) despite previous controversies. The actor denied the 2023 misconduct allegations, and no formal complaints followed.
Marvel has not specified when additional cast members will be revealed.
Take a seat! Marvel Studios has officially begun production on Avengers: Doomsday, one of the most highly anticipated films in the MCU. The announcement came via a livestream where a star-studded lineup was revealed, featuring returning heroes alongside exciting new additions.
Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the film is set to premiere on May 1, 2026.

Who’s Not on the Avengers: Doomsday Cast List?
Marvel has pulled together an incredible lineup for Doomsday, but some major names are noticeably missing. As of now, there’s no mention of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, or Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. However, with Marvel teasing that “there’s always room for more,” it wouldn’t be surprising if more big reveals come in the months ahead.
